We all know that we need vitamin D to keep our immune system healthy, our teeth and bones strong and our muscles in good working order. But it's not always possible to get enough... According to the UK Department of Health, vitamin D is one of the nutrients that is especially important to supplement in Winter. Continue reading to find out why D-Pearls is a particularly good choice.
You would think that eating a balanced diet every day is enough to ensure you get all of the nutrients you need. But there are exceptions! And Vitamin D is one of them. A recent article by the Express (online), reports that the UK Department of Health specifically recommends taking a vitamin D supplement during the dark months, simply because we are unable to synthesize the vitamin in our skin during the period from October - March, due to lack of sunlight.
When the sun is not powerful enough
We need vitamin D for a number of reasons. Most importantly, it contributes to healthy teeth and bones, a well-functioning immune system, normal muscle function and normal cell division. Sunlight is the primary source of vitamin D, so when the sun is not powerful enough to enable our skin to synthesize the nutrient naturally, we must resort to other solutions, such as taking a supplement.
Tested by scientists
D-Pearls is a good choice for many reasons. First of all, it contains vitamin D3 in olive oil for superior bio-availability (aka absorption). The success of this olive oil delivery system has been clearly proven in two scientific studies. One study, carried out by scientists from the University of Oslo, looked at vitamin D’s role in muscle performance among young athletes. The participants took D-Pearls in two different dosages, and both strengths produced steep increases in blood levels of vitamin D.
Excellent bioavailability
The other study, which looked at vitamin D supplementation in connection with social behavior and the ability to solve mentally challenging problems, showed equally good bioavailability of the D-Pearls preparation. Besides having excellent absorption, the tiny gelatin capsules (or “pearls”) are very easy to swallow or chew, which makes the product much more pleasant to take.
