13% of the Irish population is living with Chronic Pain, compared with the European average of 19%, according to Chronic Pain Ireland.
Although pain usually serves an adaptive role, it may have adverse effects on function and social and psychological well-being. It is always a personal experience, influenced to varying degrees by biological, psychological, and social factors.
In this seminar we aim to cover the following:
- what is chronic pain and why does it happen
- discussion of chronic pain conditions: medical neuropathies, wound healing, endometriosis, OA, chronic back pain, myofascial pain, migraine, fibromyalgia
- potential diet, lifestyle and supplemental interventions
