Oh, and do you know WHERE you can find the answers to those questions? If you really care about your health, it is definitely worth spending a minute or two on a Google search.
The study is published in the esteemed science journal IJC
It shows why selenium status is so important
It is based on no less than 521,448 study participants
What is selenium?
Selenium is a mineral and a so-called trace element, which means that it is only needed in trace amounts for the maintenance of human health. The selenium content in crops varies from country to country, depending on levels of the nutrient in the soil in the specific region. The Finnish found a way to deal with that problem. They introduced selenium-enrichment of commercial fertilizers by law to ensure an adequate selenium status in their population.
Immune health and thyroid function
Two of selenium’s really important functions, are to support normal functioning of the immune system and the thyroid gland.
