The vitamin that everyone's talking about.....
In Ireland, it is estimated that up to 80% of the population is deficient in vitamin D. The fact that the sun is too weak for 7 months of the year plays a huge part in this. For this reason, many of us would benefit from taking a daily vitamin D supplement.
A large study in Denmark has just highlighted the importance of vitamin D. The study has been published in the British Medical Journal and was conducted by researchers from Herlev Hospital and Copenhagen University. 96,000 Danes were followed for up to 19 years and through a specific gene analysis, they have documented the benefits of having adequate vitamin D levels in the blood. The study is considered groundbreaking and may rise a debate about how much vitamin D we actually require.
Over the past few years, scientists have established just how vitamin D is for our health. Studies have shown, for example, that vitamin D maintains bones and teeth, supports the body's muscle functions, enhances calcium absoption and boosts immunity.
The majority of vitamin D in the body is created during skin exposure to sunlight, but many people in Northern Europe do not get adequate exposure.
Why choose D-Pearls?
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, and should therefore preferably be taken with fat for optimal absorbency.
